Alexander Sittenfeld

Alexander "P.G." Sittenfeld was a Democratic member of the Cincinnati City Council and a former mayoral candidate. He was convicted at trial in 2022 as part of a wide-ranging FBI public corruption sting at Cincinnati City Hall that ran over two years and involved multiple undercover agents and informants secretly recording elected officials. Sittenfeld was found guilty of one count of bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds and one count of attempted extortion under color of official right. Prosecutors presented audio and video recordings showing Sittenfeld telling undercover FBI agents posing as real estate developers that he could "deliver the votes" on a development project pending before city council in exchange for contributions to a political action committee he controlled. He accepted eight checks of $5,000 each — totaling $40,000 — in 2018 and 2019. He was the third Cincinnati council member arrested in 2020 on public corruption charges stemming from the same sting operation.
