Andrew Quentin Taake, of Houston, Texas, brought bear spray and a metal whip-like weapon to Trump's rally and was among the first rioters to force his way onto the U.S. Capitol grounds during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot; at about 1:16 p.m. he was captured on Metropolitan Police body-worn camera footage pepper-spraying a line of officers trying to hold back the crowd, then struck officers with the whip-like weapon, and reached over the heads of other rioters to spray officers with bear spray a fourth time at about 1:30 p.m. He was identified after bragging about his role in the riot to a woman on the dating app Bumble, who reported him to the FBI. He pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Carl J. Nichols to one felony charge, assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers using a dangerous weapon, with other charges, including obstruction of an official proceeding, dismissed.
