pardonJ6 / Capitol
Convicted of
Brian Christopher Mock, 45, of the Twin Cities, Minnesota, attacked four Capitol Police officers across the West Plaza over a five-minute span during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot, pushing and trying to kick one officer on the ground, throwing a broken flagpole at a line of officers, and shoving another officer who was distracted, causing him to fall; he was reportedly turned in by his own son and later bragged that he had "beat the s--- out of a police officer." He pleaded not guilty to all charges; following a bench trial before U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, he was found guilty on 7/12/2023 of all 11 charges, including six felonies such as obstruction of an official proceeding and four counts of assaulting officers. Though prosecutors sought nine years in prison, he was sentenced on 2/22/2024 to 33 months of incarceration, 24 months of supervised release, and special assessments totaling $710 and $2,000 in restitution; his obstruction conviction was later vacated following the Supreme Court's Fischer ruling, and he was resentenced on 1/3/2025 to time served, 24 months of supervised release, a $510 special assessment, and $2,000 in restitution.
