Dale Huttle

Dale Huttle, 73, of Crown Point, Indiana, marched to the U.S. Capitol after the "Stop the Steal" rally carrying a flagpole with an upside-down American flag during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot and lunged forward, forcibly jabbing the flagpole into the stomach of a Metropolitan Police Department officer, causing the officer to lose his footing, fall on the stairs, and suffer a slipped disk; afterward Huttle told reporters, "I'm not ashamed of being there. It was our duty as patriots," calling himself "the ultimate patriot." He pleaded guilty to a felony count of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers using a deadly or dangerous weapon, with other charges dismissed. He was sentenced on 6/18/2024 to 30 months of incarceration, 36 months of supervised release, and $3,639 in restitution.
