Daniel Rodriguez

Daniel "D.J." Rodriguez, 40, of Fontana, California, was among the rioters who dragged D.C. police officer Michael Fanone from the Lower West Terrace Tunnel into the crowd during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot; after another rioter handed him an activated stun gun, Rodriguez struck Fanone in the neck with it twice, an assault that left Fanone with a heart attack, a concussion, a traumatic brain injury, and PTSD. He pleaded guilty to four charges, conspiracy, obstruction of an official proceeding and aiding and abetting, tampering with documents or proceedings, and inflicting bodily injury on certain officers, with other charges, including robbery and destruction of government property, dismissed. He was sentenced on 6/21/2023 to 151 months of incarceration, 36 months of supervised release, a $400 special assessment, $96,927 in restitution to the Metropolitan Police Department, and $2,000 in restitution to the Architect of the Capitol.
