David Paul Daniel

David Paul Daniel, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, traveled to Washington, D.C. for the January 6, 2021 "Stop the Steal" rally. According to court documents, at approximately 2:46 p.m. Daniel moved to the front of the crowd at the Senate Wing Door, where Capitol Police officers were using a heavy wooden barricade to block rioters from entering the building. Daniel and another rioter thrust their arms into the barricade and forcefully pushed it against the officers on the other side. About a minute later, the officers were overwhelmed and rioters swarmed into the hallway. Daniel then climbed through a broken window, re-entered the Capitol through another broken window nearby, walked through the Small House Rotunda and the Capitol Crypt, and exited through a broken window at approximately 3:04 p.m. He pleaded guilty on January 8, 2025 to a felony charge of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers.
