Eva Edl

Eva Edl, 87, of Aiken, South Carolina — a survivor of a communist concentration camp in post-war Yugoslavia — was convicted of FACE Act offenses across two federal jurisdictions. In the Middle District of Tennessee, she was convicted of violation of the FACE Act and clinic access obstruction for her participation in the March 5, 2021 blockade of the Carafem Health Center Clinic in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, where she and other defendants physically blocked the clinic entrance for over two hours, preventing employees and a patient from accessing the facility. Separately, in the Eastern District of Michigan, she was convicted of conspiracy against rights and FACE Act violations arising from two additional incidents: an August 27, 2020 blockade of an abortion clinic in Sterling Heights, Michigan, where she allegedly attempted to stall police officers from ending the blockade; and an April 16, 2021 obstruction at a clinic in Saginaw, Michigan, where she sat in front of a door and placed a doorstop against it to prevent staff from opening it from the inside.
