Convicted of
Fi Duong, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran from Northern Virginia, entered the U.S. Capitol for less than 10 minutes during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot, filming the scene while dressed all in black with a mask; investigators also found that afterward he hosted meetings at his home with a self-described Alexandria-area militia called "The Boys," where members discussed seceding from the U.S., assembling Molotov cocktails, and conducting surveillance of the Capitol. He was arrested in July 2021 and pleaded guilty in April 2023 to a felony count of civil disorder. He was sentenced on Nov. 5, 2024 to 36 months of probation, $2,000 in restitution, and 50 hours of community service, avoiding prison time in part because he had complied with court conditions, effectively under house arrest, for roughly three and a half years awaiting sentencing.
