Convicted of
Frank J. Scavo, a former Pennsylvania school board official, helped charter buses that brought more than 200 Trump supporters from northeast Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. for the Jan. 6, 2021 riot; though he initially told a local TV station he had not gone inside the Capitol, court documents showed he recorded cellphone video of himself at the East Front Rotunda Doors and again inside the building, pausing to photograph himself in front of a large painting. He pleaded guilty to one charge, parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building, with other charges dismissed. U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth sentenced him on 11/22/2021 to 60 days of incarceration, well beyond prosecutors' recommendation, along with a $10 special assessment, a $5,000 fine (the statutory maximum for the misdemeanor), and $500 in restitution.
