Convicted of
Heather Idoni, of Linden, Michigan — a grandmother who raised five biological children and adopted ten boys from Ukraine — was convicted of FACE Act offenses in two separate federal proceedings. Her primary conviction arose from the October 22, 2020 blockade of a reproductive health clinic in Washington, D.C., in which she and co-defendants invaded and blockaded the clinic to prevent it from providing reproductive health services. She was tried in that case in August 2023 in the District of Columbia, convicted of conspiracy against rights (18 U.S.C. § 241) and FACE Act violations, and was remanded into custody immediately following the verdict pending sentencing. She was also among the seven defendants convicted at the January 2024 trial in the Middle District of Tennessee for the March 5, 2021 blockade of the Carafem Health Center Clinic in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, where she participated in physically obstructing the clinic entrance for over two hours. Her convictions across both proceedings included conspiracy against rights, FACE Act violations, and clinic access obstruction.
Original sentence
On May 22, 2024, she was sentenced to 24 months' imprisonment and 36 months' supervised release across the multiple counts from both proceedings, making her one of the longest-serving defendants in the FACE Act cases. She was serving her sentence at a federal facility in Florida when President Trump pardoned her on January 23, 2025.
