Iraj George Javid

Iraj George Javid, an IT specialist for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority from Bristow, Virginia, was photographed throughout the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot, including in the Rotunda and Statuary Hall and while walking toward the Speaker's Lobby, where he was standing near Ashli Babbitt when she was fatally shot; a citizen identified him to the FBI using a photo collage compiled by Sedition Hunters, and agents confirmed his identity through a friend, a church acquaintance, and his manager at the transit agency. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building, with other charges dismissed. He was sentenced on 2/3/2022 to 24 months of probation, including 90 days of home detention, and $500 in restitution.
