Jason Galanis

Jason Galanis is a serial financial fraudster with a long history of securities violations. His federal convictions centered on two interlocking schemes. In the first, Galanis and co-conspirators — including his father John Galanis and associates later linked to Hunter Biden's business partner Devon Archer — arranged for a Native American tribal entity, the Wakpamni Lake Community Corporation of the Oglala Sioux, to issue $63 million in tribal bonds. The proceeds were supposed to be invested to generate annuity payments for the tribe, but Galanis and his co-conspirators instead misappropriated the funds for their own use, leaving investors holding illiquid, worthless bonds they could not redeem or sell. In the second scheme, Galanis used his control of multiple investment advisory firms to defraud clients by placing their funds into those same illiquid tribal bonds without authorization or disclosure. He pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit securities fraud, securities fraud, investment adviser fraud, and conspiracy to commit investment adviser fraud in connection with these schemes.
