Jeremy Young Hutchinson

Jeremy Hutchinson was an Arkansas state senator and representative. He pleaded guilty across three federal jurisdictions to charges arising from two separate corruption schemes. In the first bribery scheme, from approximately 2014 to 2017, he accepted more than $350,000 in monthly legal retainer payments, hotel rooms, baseball tickets, and use of luxury real estate from Preferred Family Healthcare (PFH), a Springfield, Missouri-based behavioral health nonprofit. In exchange, he performed official acts on PFH's behalf — including holding up state agency budgets and drafting and voting on legislation to protect the charity's state funding and block cost-containment reforms that would have reduced its profits. In the second scheme, from 2010 through 2017, he stole and misappropriated thousands of dollars in state campaign contributions for personal use, then filed false federal income tax returns from 2011 to 2014 to conceal the theft. He pleaded guilty in June and July 2019 in the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas and the Western District of Missouri.
