Karthik Ramakrishnan

Karthik Ramakrishnan, a Virginia doctor and successful poker player from Bluefield, approached the Senate Wing Door of the U.S. Capitol at 2:19 p.m. during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot wearing an orange and brown ski coat, a black ski cap, a red backpack, red gloves, and a surgical mask while banging a small drum, entering the building a minute later and wandering inside for roughly half an hour before leaving through a front door; he was identified after a business associate tipped off the FBI, having received footage from Ramakrishnan of the day, though Ramakrishnan initially denied entering the Capitol when asked. He pleaded guilty to one charge, parading, demonstrating, or picketing in the Capitol building, with other charges dismissed. He was sentenced on 12/14/2023 to 6 months of probation, a $10 special assessment, a $500 fine, and $500 in restitution.
