Convicted of
Kenneth Joseph Owen "Joe" Thomas, 41, of East Liverpool, Ohio, who identified himself online as "Pi Anon" and organized a "MAGA caravan" to Washington, D.C., charged a police line on the Upper West Terrace of the U.S. Capitol at about 3:30 p.m. during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot, striking and shoving two Metropolitan Police officers with his hands as the crowd surged forward, and repeatedly ordered other rioters to "hold the line"; he was arrested in Huntsville, Alabama in May 2021, and prosecutors later said he had become a prolific spreader of misinformation about the riot online. He pleaded not guilty to all charges; a jury found him guilty in June 2023 of civil disorder, assaulting law enforcement, trespassing, and disorderly conduct. He was sentenced on 11/16/2023 to 58 months of incarceration, 36 months of supervised release, a $550 special assessment, $2,000 in restitution, and a $20,000 fine.
