Kyle Fitzsimons

Kyle Fitzsimons, 39, a butcher from Lebanon, Maine, described by prosecutors as "one of the most violent and aggressive" rioters, committed five separate assaults on Capitol Police officers within about 10 minutes during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot, including hurling an unstrung bow at officers and grappling with Sergeant Aquilino Gonell while trying to pull a fallen officer into the mob, causing Gonell a career-ending shoulder injury. He pleaded not guilty and, following a bench trial before Judge Rudolph Contreras, was convicted on 11 charges, including seven felonies. He was sentenced to 87 months in prison with credit for time served.
