Marc Anthony Bru
Convicted of
Marc Anthony Bru, 44, of Vancouver, Washington, a member of the Proud Boys, was among the first to breach the restricted perimeter on the Capitol's west side on Jan. 6, 2021, then spent nearly two hours at the front of the mob on the West Plaza verbally harassing Capitol Police. He later entered the Senate Gallery and took selfies with the empty Senate floor in the background, flashing a Proud Boys hand sign in one. About six weeks later, he tried to organize a violent uprising against local government in Portland, Oregon, urging others to fight police and disable government communications. He pleaded not guilty and was convicted on Oct. 3, 2023 of two felonies — obstruction of an official proceeding and civil disorder — plus five misdemeanors; at sentencing he told the judge, "You could give me 100 years and I would still do it all over again." He was sentenced to 72 months in prison, three years of supervised release, a $7,946 fine, and $2,000 in restitution; after the obstruction conviction was later vacated, he was resentenced to 60 months.
