Mark Steven Simon, 49, of Huntington Beach, California, a far-right activist in his local community, entered the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot and took cellphone photos of himself inside the building that he later posted to social media. He pleaded guilty to one charge, parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building, with other charges dismissed. Judge Amy Berman Jackson sentenced him on 12/7/2021 to 35 days of incarceration and $500 in restitution.
