Convicted of
Michael Oliveras, of New Jersey, traveled to Washington, D.C. prepared, in his own words, for "war," and during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot swarmed and attacked a police unit on the Capitol's West Front, brawled with officers on the West Terrace, and entered the building three separate times while calling for the execution of "traitors" and urging rioters to drag members of Congress out "by their hair," much of it captured on video he recorded and posted himself. He pleaded guilty on 1/27/2023 to one charge, assaulting officers, but withdrew that plea on 8/15/2023 and pleaded not guilty to a superseding indictment; a jury found him guilty on all charges on 11/16/2023, and the court later dismissed the obstruction count on 9/30/2024. U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howell sentenced him on 10/3/2024 to 60 months of incarceration, 36 months of supervised release, a $270 special assessment, and $2,000 in restitution.
