Michael Tyler Roberts

Michael Tyler Roberts, 44, of Knoxville, Tennessee, who had told another man beforehand that he was bringing brass knuckles to Washington, D.C., was photographed during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot wearing a blue bandana and a red "MAGA" hoodie; at about 3:54 p.m., he emerged from the crowd near the Lower West Terrace Tunnel entrance and climbed on top of other rioters to get closer to the police line defending the tunnel, then used his hands to grapple with officers and grab their hands and arms in an assault that lasted roughly three minutes. He pleaded guilty to one charge, assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers, with other charges dismissed. He was sentenced on 12/6/2024 to 15 months of incarceration, 36 months of supervised release, $2,000 in restitution, and a $100 special assessment.
