Owen Shroyer, an InfoWars host who spread election disinformation on the platform in the months before Jan. 6, 2021, attended Donald Trump's speech at the Ellipse and marched to the U.S. Capitol with a megaphone during the riot that followed, leading chants among rioters though he did not enter the building itself; a judge cited his role in "amping up crowds" at sentencing. He pleaded guilty in 2023 to one misdemeanor charge, entering and remaining on restricted grounds, with other charges dropped. He was sentenced to 60 days of incarceration, 12 months of supervised release, and $500 in restitution.
