pardonJ6 / Capitol
Convicted of
Pauline Bauer, a 55-year-old restaurant owner from Kane, Pennsylvania, forced her way into the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot and positioned herself near then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office suite, screaming at police to bring Pelosi out so the crowd could "hang" her, calling lawmakers "criminals" who "need to hang." During court proceedings she expressed views consistent with the "sovereign citizen" movement, telling the judge the court had no authority over her. She pleaded not guilty and was convicted on all five felony and misdemeanor charges — including obstruction of an official proceeding — at a bench trial on Jan. 24, 2023, and was sentenced to 27 months in prison, 24 months of supervised release, a $2,000 fine, and $2,000 in restitution.
