Ronald Colton McAbee, an off-duty Williamson County, Tennessee sheriff's deputy on medical leave at the time, traveled to Washington, D.C. wearing a bulletproof vest with a "Sheriff" patch and gloves with reinforced knuckles, then during a melee on the Capitol's Lower West Terrace during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot, dragged an officer away from a police line and punched another officer who tried to intervene.
