Russell Dean Alford, of Hokes Bluff, Alabama, attended the "Stop the Steal" rally near the Ellipse on Jan. 6, 2021 before walking to the Capitol and entering through an upper House door on the southeast side at about 2:43 p.m., through an entrance already broken open by other rioters; he remained inside for roughly 15 minutes. A jury found him guilty of four misdemeanors — entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building — and the trial record noted he was neither violent nor destructive while inside.
