Thomas J. Robertson

Thomas J. Robertson, 49, an off-duty sergeant with the Rocky Mount, Virginia Police Department, drove to Washington, D.C. with fellow off-duty officer Jacob Fracker and entered the U.S. Capitol with the first wave of rioters on Jan. 6, 2021, carrying a large wooden stick into the restricted area. He pleaded not guilty to all charges; following a jury trial held 4/4/2022 through 4/11/2022 before Judge Christopher Cooper, he was found guilty on all six counts, including felony obstruction of an official proceeding, civil disorder, and tampering with documents or proceedings. He was sentenced to 87 months of incarceration, 36 months of supervised release, and $2,000 in restitution, at the time tying for the longest sentence imposed in a Jan. 6 case.
